It is with great sadness that we announce the departure of Ruth, our Matron and Head of Toro Babies Home, who left her position on 5 September 2026 to take on a new professional challenge with a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

During her time with us, Ruth has done an outstanding job. With exceptional dedication, a strong sense of responsibility, compassion and genuine warmth, she has led Toro Babies Home with great care and commitment. The wellbeing of the children has always been at the heart of everything she did, and she has been a trusted and reliable source of support for our entire team. Her ability to handle even difficult situations with calmness, good judgement and determination has impressed us time and again.
Ruth has been one of the best Matrons Toro Babies Home has had in recent years. This makes saying goodbye to her all the more difficult. We are not only losing an excellent leader, but also someone who genuinely cared about our children, our staff and the future of our Babies Home.
We are deeply grateful to Ruth for everything she has done for the children, the team and the development of Toro Babies Home. We wish her every success, happiness and God’s blessings as she begins this new chapter in her professional and personal life.
Fortunately, we do not have to say goodbye completely just yet. Until a new Matron has been appointed, Ruth will continue to support us on Saturdays, taking care of important management responsibilities.
During this transitional period, much of the responsibility for the day-to-day running of Toro Babies Home will once again rest on the shoulders of our accountant, Joanne. She has stepped in and taken on additional responsibilities on many occasions in the past. We would therefore also like to express our sincere gratitude to Joan for her dedication, reliability and willingness to shoulder additional responsibilities during this challenging time.
Dear Ruth, we will miss you very much. Thank you for your wonderful work and for everything you have given to our children and to Toro Babies Home!
