In September, we were delighted to welcome two new volunteers to Toro Babies Home in Fort Portal, Uganda: Helene and Hanna. The two young women will spend a year working at our babies’ home as part of the German weltwärts volunteer programme, organised through the Diocese of Osnabrück.
During their stay, they will support our caretakers in the daily care of the children. Their role is not only to provide practical assistance with everyday tasks, but above all to give the children their time, attention, affection and care.
Their first impressions already show just how warmly they have been welcomed:
“Our arrival at the Babies Home was wonderful. All the mothers and children gave us such a warm welcome. The children are all incredibly lovely, and we really enjoy spending time with them. We have so much fun playing with them and laughing together. We are looking forward to spending even more time with them over the coming months and getting to know them better.”

For Helene and Hanna, this marks the beginning of an exciting year filled with new experiences, encounters and challenges. At the same time, they will be a valuable addition to our team on the ground.
We extend a very warm welcome to Helene and Hanna and wish them a rewarding and unforgettable year at Toro Babies Home!
