Project Outlook 2022

28 November 2021

Hiring a pediatric nurse
In order to recognize and treat health impairments more quickly and to provide our disabled children with even more intensive support and therapy, we would like to employ a Paediatric Nurse – initially on a part-time basis – who will regularly examine the children in accordance with the German preventive medical check-ups and digitally document the results for each child on a regular basis. This way, our pediatricians in Germany can be involved in an uncomplicated way.

Renovation of the administrative buildings
The lower administrative houses are in urgent need of renovation. In the house where the accountant Joan and the volunteers live, where the small kitchen and the living room are located, the ceilings must also be renewed, the walls painted and the kitchen furniture completely renewed. If a photovoltaic system on the roof is posssible at all, the entire dilapidated electrical system must be renovated beforehand.

In addition, the renewal of the fence around the property is still on the to-do list. In February, Barbara Zimmermann-Baschnagel, a midwife from Switzerland and longtime friend of the Home, will work at Toro Babies Home for three months together with her husband Josef. Barbara has already visited Toro Babies Home once in 2015 during our journey with medicals professions. The visit of several months is favorable, because while Barbara can take care of the little ones and guide the Mothers, Josef takes over the construction supervision for the renovation projects.

Moderate increase in salary
In the long run, the salaries of our staff need to be moderately increased. Many of our Mothers work very, very hard and would have quit long ago if they were not so connected to the children and the Baby Home. Just imagine the nights with five babies and three toddlers…. Especially with regard to a good development of the children, we want to introduce standards and attach importance to qualified staff.
