Little baby Simon Isingoma was admitted to Toro Babies Home just one day after his birth. He and his twin sister Gerlinde Nzakato were born prematurely and lost their mother at birth. Due to the premature birth, Simon had to fight for his life already in the first weeks and he is still suffering from the consequences of the early birth.
Simon already weighed 3.7 kg. Sadly though, last week he suffered from a hernia, the exit of the intestine from the abdominal cavity through a congenital gap. His mother Beatrice reports that he has severe swelling in his lower abdomen and can hardly sleep or eat due to pain. Simon currently weighs only 2.5 kg. The doctors in the surrounding hospitals have not been able to treat him due to lack of resources and he now needs to go to the capital city of Kampala as soon as possible for surgery. We contacted Dr. Andrew, the former medical director of our partner hospital Lubaga. Simon is supposed to travel to Kampala with his mother on Sunday, 28. Nov, so that he can get the surgery immediately on Monday. Just now, time is really running out! If the intestine is trapped, it can perforate.
Please help us with your donation so that we can fund this one vital surgery for little premature Simon. We are incredibly grateful for your help. Thank you!
