Together with Peter Painter, Plumber David and Accountant Joan, as well as Matron Betty, we started the renovation of the staff and office houses. Peter will be painting the ceiling in the Staff House after the carpenter fixes it as well as the outside of the Office House and Staff House. Josef Zimmermann will oversee the interior renovation of the Staff House in February.
Afterwards, I went to the market in Fort Portal for Christmas shopping with my godson Hillary and his father. We could see new traditional clothes there. Instead of groceries, Hillary’s father was looking forward to get a 20 kilo sack of beans since he has leased a new field where he wants to grow them. And for Hillary school will finally start again in January. Plumber David, who has been looking after Hillary and his family during my absence, received a well deserved benefit from me which he also want to use for a Christmas surprise for the family.
Around noon I had a meeting with Fiona from the Kyaninga Child Development Center to discuss Gift’s therapy and the instruction of the German long-term volunteers. They should carry out short therapy sessions with the disabled children every day so that the joints do not stiffen and the muscles do not shorten for example. Fiona also suggested that we convert one of the houses in a way that is adapted to the needs of the disabled and so that all handicapped children can be looked after by a professional. And we would like to follow this idea. Rachel is supposed to get a new chair that her godmother wants to donate and we will need Fiona’s expertise for this.
Godmother Patience and Lamulati will sponsor the Christmas holiday with treats. Many thanks to the both of you!
