Racheal has gone from us…

30 May 2022

Dear friends of Toro Babies Home,

We are very sad to announce that Racheal passed away last night.

After developing a high fever and having seizures, she was taken to Maranatha Children’s Hospital, examined and put on oxygen. She vomited several times that day. Unfortunately, the doctors couldn’t save Rachael. The cause of death was found to be aspiration of vomit.

Racheal before being admitted into the hospital

At the beginning of May, despite her sore back, she made a very satisfied and happy impression. Above all, the physiotherapy was very good for her. It was planned to adapt a new wheelchair optimally for her. Unfortunately, Racheal couldn’t try it out anymore.

In May she seemed to be very content

Rachael was born on November 1st, 2007 and was taken into Toro Babies Home a week later as her mother died giving birth. The father was too poor and the other family members were unable to take care of the disabled girl. Racheal suffered from spastic cerebral palsy. A part of the brain that controls movement and muscle tone is irreversibly damaged. She kept suffering from seizures and her ability to speak and swallow was severely restricted. She had an extraordinary and very loving relationship with Mother Rossette. Rossette took care of Racheal with a lot of patience and dedication.

Together with the family

Rachael was only 14 years old. Despite her severe suffering, an innocent smile always shone across her face. Together we would like to do everything we can to honor her life and to make the farewell and funeral service a beautiful, dignified moment. We would therefore be incredibly grateful if you would support us with a donation to make this matter of the heart a reality.
