In the Kabarole district, which includes Fort Portal, there has been an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, which has led to a ban on the sale of beef, pork, goat meat and dairy products. However, this measure has serious consequences for the Toro Babies Home. Powdered milk, an important source of nutrients for the children, is now difficult to obtain and has risen sharply in price.
The challenges facing Toro Babies Home are manifold. The financial burden of the increased cost of dairy products poses a significant additional challenge. The home is now forced to find alternative sources of nutrients in order to continue to adequately meet the children’s needs.
The community and supporters of the Toro Babies Home are now urged to offer their help. Donations of funds or infant milk can help to mitigate the effects of the foot and mouth disease and ensure that the children at the home can continue to be adequately cared for. At this difficult time, solidarity and help for the children in need is vital and we are grateful for every donation we receive.
