As you may already know, our dear Racheal passed away this month. It is with deep sadness that we said goodbye to her and at the same time we are grateful for the time we had with her. We hope she is in a better place now and rests in peace.
Despite some challenges in May, the baby home is doing well. Four babies were taken in, one girl and three boys.
The parents and families of Susan Nyamata Musiimenta, Obed Kule Jacob and Lucky Jayden – all just a few months old – are unable to take care of the children among other reasons due to health issues.
The children are going back to school. The younger ones are attending the nursery school, which is funded by the volunteers, and three of our older children with disabilities attend the Canon Apolo inclusive boarding school. All children are always very happy to go to school. Irene takes the kids to school and Julius picks them up again.
Currently, a major challenge that we have to face are the prices for food and household goods in Uganda, which have risen extremely. At the same time, we are also happy about some positive news: the refurbishment work on the electrical system by our partner Equator Solar has started. We hope that the new installation of the photovoltaic system – financed by Gesunde Welt Partnerschaft – can then take place in July.
As always, we would like to thank all participants, supporters and helpers for their great commitment and especially for the donations for Racheal’s funeral.
