On December 6th, 2021 I arrived at Fort Portal with Father Joseph, Chairman of the Toro Babies Home. His driver from Caritas picked him up in Kampala and I was able to go along together with the luggage and donations . For the Babies Home I bought diaper towels in Kampala and ordered 100 bottles, 200 teats and bottle brushes from our inexpensive source in Kampala. We didn’t arrive at the baby home until late in the early evening. The surprise was a success, because I initially I was going to fly to Johannesburg first.
The two German volunteers were very happy to see Joseph again. At the time, he conducted the interviews with both of them. Little Keron, our problem child with hydrocephalus, immediately adapted me and cried bitterly when I gave him back to Joan. He’s gotten heavy, the little rascal. Dan, the auditor, accountant and Joan’s friend was also in the baby home. He spends every minute of his free time in Fort Portal and still takes great care of the children – especially Stephen, the 14 year old boy with epilepsy.
