“Every child needs love, care and tenderness regardless of where they come from”, those were the words of His Lordship Dr. Robert Muhiirwa Akiiki, Bishop of Fort Portal Diocese who graced TBH’s Day of Open Door as Chief Celebrant when Toro Babies Home opened her gates to the world to create awareness and allow in guests all day to interact, inquire and support Toro Babies Home.

The day held on December 11th, 2025 attracted at least 100 guests from various backgrounds who visited the home and participated in several activities of the Day of Open Door including a mini exhibition, interaction with the children and staff and donations.
Bishop Robert Muhiirwa Akiiki commended participants for showing keen interest in supporting Toro Babies Home and urged the general public to support the home since everyone by default is a parent of children at TBH which gives abandoned and less privileged children chance to grow like every other child with love, care and tenderness.
In participation was Fr. Joseph Musana Ateenyi, the BOD Chairperson, TBH together with other Board members, members of Makerere University Muslim Students Association (MUMSA), members of the general public and staff and management of TBH among others.
Fr. Joseph thanked His Lordship Dr. Robert Muhiirwa Akiiki and His Lordship Reuben Kisembo Amooti (absent due to other Diocesan commitments) who make up the TBH Board of Trustees for guaranteeing an enabling environment for abandoned children to thrive. He said that the children at Toro Babies Home need no sympathy because they don’t lack due to the endearing support of the Board of Trustees and all the wish wishers from Fort Portal and the surrounding areas and the world at large who notably include long term donors Partnerschaft, die bewegt from Germany and Children Need Parents from Norway.

TBH Day of Open Door happens once every year to let in the general public to understand better the function and importance of TBH. The day also reaffirms the public’s stake in the home and further harnesses that without the support of the public, lives of abandoned children are in jeopardy.

Special thanks to everyone who came through and made the day brighter for the children.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2026
